Heartbeat was founded by Dr. Sunette (Pienaar) Steyn in 2000 as a response to this massive orphan challenges in South Africa. Since inception, Heartbeat has reached close to 27000 orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) through direct and indirect interventions.
